New Member Assistance

Members of the sailing club are keen to support new members and can be a source of practical help and advice. There are members in the club who will sail with you or offer you space in their own boats as crew in order to build your confidence and experience of racing.

Sailing Ability

New members are expected to have achieved at least RYA Level 2 in Dinghy Sailing. Both the level 1 & 2 courses are run, for beginners, at the Bristol Sailing School, also located at the Baltic Wharf, at very competitive rates.

Insuring Your Boat

Every boat sailed on the Floating Harbour must be third party insured with public indemnity. The average cost for a dinghy worth under a thousand pounds is approximately £40.00 a year for comprehensive cover.
Current members will be able to help you to choose a suitable policy should you have concerns.
