"To
touch that bow is to rest one's hand
on the cosmic nose of things" (Jack
London - The Cruise of the Snark)
Water
- We sail the western end of the historic Bristol
Floating Harbour,
nominally between Baltic Wharf and the SS Great Britain.
- The relatively small
area of water enables a higher than usual number of laps per race, putting a
premium on mark rounding and close quarters manoeuvring skills rather than mere
boat speed.
- The absence of tide and current lulls some into a false sense of
security - see "wind".
